Life is made up of social interaction, both big and small. Miscommunication leads to difficulties for the person experiencing hearing loss and those around them. Don’t let poor hearing cause you to miss out on life’s many special moments. Explore how a digital hearing instrument can impact your life.
The BTE is a popular style worn behind the ear that connects to an ear mold that rests inside the outer ear. Sound is conducted from the hearing aid into the ear mold. Although this can be the largest type of hearing aid, it is also the most powerful and often the easiest to adjust. BTE hearing aids are appropriate for the treatment of almost all types of hearing loss.
Traditional behind-the-ear (BTE)
The traditional BTE packs more power and reach than smaller devices and can offer both manual flexibility for control and automation for individuals with mild to severe hearing loss.
In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are also known as custom hearing aids because they are individually manufactured to fit a person’s ear. They range from the so-called Micro-CIC instrument, which fits completely in the ear canal, to the full-shell hearing aid, which completely fills the bowl of the ear.
Completely in-the-canal (CIC)
This hearing aid model is molded to fit completely inside your ear canal. The outer faceplate of the shell is barely visible in the ear canal. The CIC is a very discreet option that can fit a mild to moderate hearing loss.
Invisible in-the-canal (IIC)
The newest in custom hearing aid styles is a micro device that fits deep into the ear canal completely hidden from view.
Mini receiver-in-the-canal BTE (RIC)
The Mini receiver-in-the-canal BTE (RIC) is the smallest RIC ever designed and is virtually unseen when worn. The Mini RIC might be tiny but it packs a punch when it comes to performance, style and one of a kind features.
Custom-in-the-canal remote-mic. (CIC-RM)
Remote microphone hearing aids are similar to a CIC with the microphone moved out of the case and placed up in the concha of the ear. Because the microphone is moved out, these instruments are smaller and allow for better sound localization by using the natural shape of the ear lobe.
ITC instruments are custom built for your ear, so they fit snugly and comfortably. Only the face of the device extends into the outer ear, while the body extends into your ear canal. The slightly larger design offers extra power, making the ITC a great selection for mild to mildly severe hearing loss.
